The short film Premier Feu (First Fire) , directed by Blanca Camell Galí and produced by Barberousse Films, has been selected for the 24th Unifrance Short Film Award at Cannes. This is a wonderful recognition for this moving work, supported by Gironde Tournages and the Gironde Department.
With First Fire , Blanca Camell Galí explores a pivotal moment of intimate experience: the postpartum period. The film follows Clara, who gives birth to her first child. In the chaos of the postpartum period, she tries to reshape her body and her shattered life. Through this tightly focused narrative, the short film addresses motherhood in its most physical, fragile, and profoundly human aspects: the transformation of the body, the loss of bearings, the exhaustion, but also the gradual reconstruction of a new equilibrium.
This selected for the Unifrance Short Film Award at Cannes highlights the vitality of short film creation and confirms the importance of support mechanisms for cinematographic works.
