In Gironde, we promote the films produced in an eco-responsible approach.Drop of gold by Clément Cogitore produced by Kazak Productions is one of them. Selected for a special screening at Critics' Week 2022 in Cannes, it will be released in theaters on March 1, 2023.

In 2021, this feature film settled in Bordeaux, and more precisely at Château Descas (currently under construction), to shoot its interior scenes. At the time of filming, the premises were almost empty, which allowed director Clément Cogitore to give free rein to his imagination and recreate the apartment of his main character: Ramses. A decoration team intervened to reconstruct a labyrinthine apartment which was used as a studio for the duration of filming. The eco-responsible approach has infused the work of all the teams since most of the objects used in the set were salvaged, as were the costumes for the supporting roles and the extras, which were reused, salvaged or already owned clothing.
Technicians were encouraged to use LED lights, which have the particularity of consuming little energy.

On the management side, among the actions implemented, a few examples:

  • The dematerialization of working documents
  • Limiting the use of single-use consumables;
  • The reuse of existing stocks;
  • The provision of ashtrays;
  • The consumption of organic products, from short circuits;
  • Filter coffee makers were used to avoid the ecological footprint caused by the use of coffee capsules and machines that remain on standby;
  • The systematic sorting of waste by the management. 

In terms of mobility, the technical team was encouraged to use the public transport network. No personal vehicles were used or rented and the technicians were informed of the accessibility of the filming locations via the service sheet. Instead of the almost daily use of the usual trucks, the teams favored the storage of cinematographic material on the filming locations.

But all of this is above all done by raising awareness among the teams and constant information before and during filming. Production shared its approach and the gestures to be adopted via special signage: sorting near the waste bins, near the control table, and a reminder of eco-gestures on the service sheets.

The production, through its commitment, tried to offer logical, healthy and feasible alternatives, while remaining at the service of the film. The impact in terms of greenhouse gas emissions and waste was measured at the end of filming.

SYNOPSIS

Ramses holds a clairvoyance cabinet at the Goutte d'Or in Paris. Clever and manipulative, he built a solid consolation business. The arrival of street children, as dangerous as they are elusive, upsets the balance of his business and the whole neighborhood. Until the day when Ramses will have a real vision.
