Synopsis: In 1826, the Countess of Saint-Hélié moved with her daughter Elfy and little Anne, whom she had adopted, to the Périgord mansion of her uncle, Baron Carol. Which, after having mysteriously disappeared, would now be a ghost, according to the servant Toussaint. The years go by. Elfy and Anne have become charming young girls. The first secretly loves Albéric, a handsome soldier whom she despairs of not being able to marry for lack of a dowry; the second is in love with Hervé, the gamekeeper of the manor, nephew of Toussaint. The Baron still hasn't reappeared...
