Villages: living settings of the Gironde countryside
The Gironde isn't just Bordeaux, the Bassin, or the great vineyards. It's also a populated, rolling countryside dotted with bastide towns, hilltop villages, medieval villages, cobbled streets, and blond stone houses.
Some places seem timeless, suspended between heritage and everyday life. Closed shutters for a nap, benches under the lime trees, a bell tower chiming the slow hour, a vineyard at the end of the path. In these villages, the setting is already there, it lives, it breathes, and sometimes just awaits a cinematic glimpse.
OUR FAVORITES
Bourg
Clinging to the cliff, facing the estuary, Bourg is a labyrinth of cobbled streets, vaulted passages and troglodyte houses. The Citadel dominates the landscape and shelters underground passages, unsuspected industrial cavities, perfect for unique shoots. The contrast between nature, heritage and traces of a discreet past gives Bourg a real visual richness.
Entre-deux-Mers
On the heights of the Garonne, Rions and Saint Macaire deploy their narrow streets, their battlements, their old doors and their shaded squares. You can turn around without having to set the scene. In Verdelais, the landscape opens onto the vineyards and the valley, the village is organized around the sanctuary and its wooded paths. The atmosphere is more intimate, almost suspended.
Saint-Émilion and the vineyard villages
Even though Saint-Émilion is famous throughout the world, it remains an exceptional setting, beyond its tourist image. Walls, monolith, small sloping streets, troglodyte caves, bird's eye views of the vineyards : everything is graphic, mastered, both natural and heritage. Around, other villages of Libournais offer calmer variations, just as evocative.
South Gironde
À La Reole, the Garonne runs along the ramparts. The old center is a tangle of houses half-timbered, with stairs and open views of the river. In Bazas, Cathedral gives a rare monumentality to the central square, lined with arcades and ancient facadesAs for Castelmoron-d'Albret, officially the smallest village in France, it concentrates in a few alleys a complete cinema set: golden stone, old shops, stone stairs and short lines.
Filming in the village
Authorization and tracking
These villages are inhabited, lively, and sometimes sensitive to disturbance. It is essential to contact the municipalities or communities of municipalities in advance to organize reconnaissance, parking, and logistics.
The Filming Reception Office is there to facilitate these exchanges and support you through each stage of the project.
